Our team at Westerra Equipment brought the fun, and the horsepower, to the 2025 Nanaimo Silly Boat Races with a one-of-a-kind, Bobcat-themed boat that made waves both on and off the water.

This marks the second time we've taken part in this lighthearted community tradition, which brings together businesses, families, and community members for a good laugh and a great cause. Our crew built and raced a hilariously over-the-top “silly boat” inspired by Bobcat construction equipment, turning heads and bringing smiles to the tens of thousands of spectators lining Nanaimo’s waterfront.

Beyond the fun, we’re proud to share that our team raised over $4,000 for the Nanaimo Child Development Centre, contributing to an incredible event total of more than $100,000 in support of children and families in the region.

“We’re all about building stronger communities, and the Silly Boat Races let us do that in the most fun and ridiculous way possible,” said one team member. “It’s an awesome way to give back and connect with the community—plus, who doesn’t want to see a Bobcat float in the ocean?”
